Victoria Santiago

Victoria Santiago Araiza is a second-year Master in City Planning student and Fulbright-García Robles Grantee with a professional background in public service at both local and federal government levels in her home country, Mexico.
 

At the government of Mexico City, she contributed to the consolidation of technical instruments on road safety and sustainable mobility. Since 2018, she oversaw and advised programs and actions of the Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development, particularly the Urban Improvement Program, a federal priority program dedicated to promoting public spaces and urban facilities in more than 125 cities in the country. 
 

Victoria's research during her bachelor's explored the evolution of federal organizations and policies in urban affairs, emphasizing institutional arrangements. Now pursuing her studies at MIT's Department of Urban Studies and Planning, she specializes in urban mobility, public finance, and land policies. Currently, she is developing her thesis project titled "Political Autonomy and Public Finance in Mexico City: A Land-Based Analysis towards a Decade of Political Reform."
