Bianchi Dy

MCP Student

Bianchi Dy is a 2nd-year MCP candidate in the City Design and Development Group and an award-winning data visualization designer. Before joining MIT, she worked as a researcher at the National University of Singapore on architectural computation and at the Singapore University of Technology and Design on data visualization research funded by the former SUTD-MIT International Design Center, urban science and planning support system research projects commissioned by Singapore’s Urban Redevelopment Authority, and as a data visualization designer at data storytelling and editorial studio Kontinentalist. She has also worked on mobility projects in collaboration with the Aviation Studies Institute, Netherland Airport Consultants, and the Lee Kwan Yew Center for Innovative Cities.

She has been active in the Southeast Asian data journalism and storytelling fields, primarily through her work with Kontinentalist. While at MIT, she is interested in learning more about transit-oriented development, and in researching the impact of public transportation on access to leisure in cities, especially in nighttime settings. Her professional practice is focused on urban science, data feminism, and participatory design principles into urban technology.
