Ajara Sompo Ceesay joined SPURS/Humphrey in 2018, previously serving as the urban roads manager at the National Roads Authority (NRA) of The Gambia, where she supervises the planning, management, and construction of the road network. She has more than eight years of previous experience as an NRA engineer. She holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Bradford, England, and a master’s degree in transport engineering from Imperial College London, England. At MIT, she investigated how neighborhoods, cities, and regions develop sustainably in relation to transport planning. Her focus is on land-use and urban design, public policy, and regional economic integration.
