Co-creating a Theory of Change for Anti-Racist Research
Co-Creating a Theory of Change for Anti-Racist Research is a collaborative initiative between MIT and PowerCorps Boston (PowerCorpsBOS), supported by the Racially Just Research Initiative (RJRI). The project seeks to articulate a shared theory of change for anti-racist research, integrating learning, reflection, and action toward racial and climate justice.
Through shared readings, workshops, and interactive sessions—including in-person meetings and collaborative work on a shared Miro board—the team has co-developed a framework that connects racially just research principles to real-world implementation. The collaboration also extends into workforce and climate action, supporting the development of a Climate Community Collaborative and an emerging MIT Climate Corps in partnership with MITOS and Facilities.
This initiative builds upon the MIT Civilian Climate Corps Research Project, launched in October 2022, which aims to align racial, economic, and environmental justice through applied research and civic partnerships.
