Caleb Schmitz
Caleb Schmitz is a Master's of City Planning candidate (2027) and research assistant at DUSP. He is currently contributing to a variety of research projects focusing on urban design approaches to socio-ecological resilience in Italian mountain villages and port cities. Bringing the perspective of both a designer and social scientist, his primary interests include urban design, land use regulation, and the relationship between the built enviornment and human social and economic outcomes.
Prior to joining MIT, Caleb worked on flood resilience initiatives at the Colorado Department of Transportation and as a community planner at SE Group, where he contributed to comprehensive plans and outdoor recreation-based economic development strategies across the Mountain West and Northeast.
