Areti Kotsoni
Areti Kotsoni is a doctoral student at the MIT Department of Urban Studies and Planning, pursuing the Advanced Urbanism concentration with the MIT Norman B. Leventhal Center for Advanced Urbanism (LCAU). Her scholarly work focuses on conflict urbanism, critical cartography, and migration, employing intersectional lenses to explore how these dynamics shape space and its communities.
She has conducted research and fieldwork in several countries, including Greece, Cyprus, Tunisia, and Italy. Areti is a registered architect in Greece and holds a diploma in Architectural Engineering from the Technical University of Crete and a Master in Design Studies from the Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD). At the GSD she served as a Research Associate in the Landscape Architecture Department and contributed to teaching in the Urban Planning and Design Department.
Areti has taught, published, lectured, and collaborated with institutions such as Columbia GSAPP, Harvard, the Architectural Association, Wentworth Institute of Technology, Yale, and Sapienza University of Rome.
