From September 30 through October 4 this fall, visit the epicenter of what’s next at a new festival of science, technology, and human understanding. MIT Future Fest unlocks labs, workshops, and theaters across campus for five days of in-person experiences, exhibitions, tours, performances, and unexpected connections — pulling renowned researchers and curious first-timers alike into the shared thrill of discovery and action.
A number of community members from the Department of Urban Studies and Planning (DUSP) are participating in this festival, including:
- Oct. 1: "How Will We Protect Coasts?" featuring Miho Mazereeuw among other experts
- Oct. 1: "The Data in Us: Designing Information," featuring Sarah Williams among other experts
- Oct. 2: "Floating Buildings: Designing for a Changing Planet," featuring Carlo Ratti among other experts — Ratti will also be hosting a book talk this day on How AI Sees the City
- Oct. 2: "Future Lab: Senseable City Lab," featuring Fábio Duarte, Martina Mazzarello, and Diego Morra
- Oct. 2: "BLKNWS®: MIT Edition Screening & Talkback," featuring Garnette Cadogan among other experts
- Exhibitions and Installations:
- Provisional Futures, by Constantinos Gallis and collaborators, will be on view during the festival.
