A Vision to End Homelessness in Los Angeles

In 2019, DUSP alumna Nithya Raman (MCP '08) ran for Los Angeles City Council on a platform centered on delivering compassionate and effective services for people experiencing homelessness, building more affordable housing, and moving with greater urgency to meet the city's climate goals. Drawing upon her experience as an urban planner and as the founder of a nonprofit focused on responding to homelessness, Raman is urging fellow Angelenos to recognize how a lack of an affordable housing inventory drives homelessness, traffic congestion, and gentrification.

In the latest episode of People Behind the Plans, an American Planning Association podcast, Raman joins host Courtney Kashima to discuss her vision to build a city that is more inclusive, affordable and sustainable.
