Flipping Flops: 25 Years of Technological Breakthroughs

For 25 years, the MIT Technology Review has been releasing its annual list of the Ten Breakthrough Technologies. Some of them were world-changing, while others failed. In an editorial in Tech Review, based on a course taught at SA+P by Fábio Duarte and James Scott, I discuss why some of these ‘breakthroughs’ have failed, and how to flip these flops.
