Heidi Shalaby
Professor of Urban Conservation, Zagazig University; and Director of Central Administration for Technical Affairs at the National Organization of Urban Harmony, Ministry of Culture, Cairo, Egypt. As Professor of Urban Conservation, teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in urban design, urban renewal, history of urban planning, building conservation and preservation, and urban conservation. At the National Organization of Urban Harmony, focuses on preservation and management of heritage areas such as Historic and Khedivial Cairo, as well as sustainable approaches for heritage building conservation. Has been involved in numerous international projects related to heritage preservation and urban regeneration in Egypt.
Hold a B.Sc. in Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Architecture Department, Zagazig University, Egypt; M.Sc. in Architecture Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, Egypt; Ph.D. Degree in Architecture Engineering (Urban Planning), Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, Egypt.
Objective during the fellowship is to enhance expertise in heritage conservation and city management, specifically preservation of cultural and historical assets, ensuring their sustainable use, and promoting effective policies. Aims to deepen understanding of global best practices, interdisciplinary approaches, and innovative strategies related to heritage management through collaborative projects and networking opportunities.
