Felipe Morales

Felipe most recently served as Chief of Staff for Critical Infrastructure Projects in the Office of the Mayor of Bogotá, Colombia, where he led the Board of Infrastructure in coordinating 20 district entities, oversaw the execution of 400 urban infrastructure projects worth $6.3 billion, advised on regional legal frameworks, and co-designed the establishment of the Regional Transport Authority. He also advised on and negotiated the urban transport chapter of the National Development Plan 2022-2025. He has extensive experience in strategizing and managing political campaigns in Colombia, serving as a strategic advisor and campaign manager. Additionally, he has consulted for the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean and the World Bank, developing proposals for public transport funding and territorial governance that resulted in significant legislative advancements.

During his year at MIT, he aims to leverage the diverse community, particularly his SPURS cohort, to expand his professional and personal network, collaborate on research projects, and deepen his understanding of regional-urban planning and transportation policy. He seeks to develop practical tools and methodologies for LACPlan, gain fresh insights into addressing regional and urban challenges, and emerge as a more knowledgeable, skilled, and empowered agent of change for sustainable and equitable development in Colombia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
