We Who Engage
We Who Engage is a project facilitating conversations and action around greater civic engagement in our democracy. Dr McDowell has developed a Civic Design Framework that supports cities in building an inclusive and authentic community engagement infrastructure as the public increasingly demand transparency, equity, and justice from local governments in the US. The intended outcomes are: 1) the creation of civic infrastructure that supports deliberative and constructive dialogue between the public and city leadership in order to attain; 2) equitable outcomes, especially for communities at the margins, and; 3) to help a nation in crisis emerge with a more resilient democracy. We Who Engage works with cities to design local engagement strategies, offers a civic design podcast series, white papers and a social media strategy.
