The Reshaping of Economic Geography in Asia
This project analyzes how rapid urbanization, environmental change, and shifting industrial structures are reshaping the economic geography of Asian cities. Using high-resolution data on land use, housing, transportation, and environmental quality, the research examines how infrastructure investment, climate exposure, and governance capacity interact to influence spatial inequality and productivity across regions. The project highlights how climate risks and adaptation policies affect urban growth trajectories and the distribution of opportunity across places and populations. Collaborating with scholars from NUS and USC, the team combines comparative empirical analysis and modeling to identify strategies that promote inclusive, sustainable urban development under intensifying environmental and economic pressures.
