Emma Heneine

MCP Candidate

Emma is a second year Master's in City Planning candidate at MIT. At MIT, Emma is part of the International Development Group, City Design and Development Group, and the Political Economy Lab. Her academic and professional background is in global health and international development. She received her Bachelor's degree from Duke University in 2018, after which she worked for several years doing health policy research and advocacy in East Africa as well as conducting market analyses and interventions to improve access and affordability of essential health commodities in low- and middle- income countries. Since joining DUSP, Emma has become increasingly aware of urban planning as a leading tool to promote public health and is driven by the potential for cities' built environments to better support public health and sustainable development.
