Ayan Meer

Doctoral Candidate

Ayan Meer is a doctoral candidate in the International Development Group at the Department of Urban Studies and Planning (MIT), and his research examines the political economy of development, and the social and environmental transformations brought about by international capital mobility.

Ayan is affiliated with MIT’s Political Economy Group, and is in 2022/23 the Chateaubriand Fellow associated with the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) in Paris, France. Prior to joining MIT, Ayan was a researcher at the Centre for Policy Research in New Delhi, India. He holds a Masters from the Geography department at the London School of Economics, a Bachelor of Arts from Sciences Po Paris, and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the Sorbonne University-Paris IV.
