Water Diplomacy III: Synthesis of Science, Policy, and Politics of Boundary Crossing

This course will introduce a new Water Diplomacy Framework and focus on water conflicts and ways of integrating scientific and political aspects of of water conflicts with negotiation theory. It will emphasize both quantitative and qualitative approaches to analyzing water conflicts through negotiations utilizing the mutual gains approach. Students will test their understanding of these principles by preparing water case studies and participating in an extended negotiation simulation exercise, called Indopotamia, related to boundary crossing water problems.
