Welcome SPURS Class of 2014-2015

The Special Program for Urban and Regional Studies (SPURS) is a one-year non-degree program designed for mid-career professionals from developing and newly industrializing countries. SPURS was founded in 1967 as part of DUSP, and hosted in the last 47 years, 658 individuals from 115 countries all around the world.

For 2014-2015, we have welcomed 17 Fellows from Argentina, Central African Republic, China, Ethiopia, Georgia, Mexico, Myanmar, Philippines, Peru, Poland, South Korea, and Turkey (link to their bios).

One of our goals for this academic year is to find the ways to utilize the knowledge and experience of the fellows to achieve the following objectives:

  • Expose students and faculty to planning and development challenges and solutions in the fellows’ countries.

  • Create forums for interaction between fellows, faculty and students.

  • Find ways fellows can participate in research and teaching.

  • Find opportunities to expand the networks that the fellows provide in their countries for DUSP faculty and students.

We are planning a set of activities towards achieving these goals, including launching a new website, which will serve as a platform for networks between SPURS alumni, current fellows, faculty, and students.
