Industrial Urbanism: Places of Production, Kiryat Shmona, Israel

The Practice-based Research Workshop is an international collaboration with Tel-Aviv University Laboratory for Contemporary Urban Design (http://lcud.tau.ac.il/) and the city of Kiryat Shmona, Israel. The workshop is part of a long-term research collaboration between Prof Ben-Joseph and Prof Hatuka that aims to bring new ways of thinking to the planning of industrial areas, where the city can co-exist with manufacturing through an industrial remix. We believe that this new form of industrial remix can be achieved through a tripartite strategy of industrial urbanism, refigured manufacturing, and closed loop urban metabolism.
