Practical introduction to spatial analysis and geographic information systems (GIS). Examines how geography is represented digitally and how nonrandom distributions of phenomena as diverse as poverty and scenic resources can be better understood by examining their spatial characteristics.

  • Students are required to go to a lab of their choice the first week of classes: Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 5-7pm in W31-301.
  • Permanent lab assignments will be made after the first week of class. This will be based on a lottery system.
  • The first day of lecture is Wednesday, September 3rd. Lecture is both Monday and Wednesday, 2:30-4pm.
