DUSP Alumna Named Undersecretary Housing and Community Development

Please join us in congratulating DUSP alumna Janelle Chan (MCP '07) on being named undersecretary for housing and community development for Massachusetts’s executive office of housing and economic development.

Chan succeeds another DUSP alumna Chrystal Kornegay (MCP '97). Kornegay is the director of MassHousing, for coverage of Kornegay's appointment read the DUSP News Story here.

Speaking to Chan's new role, Jay Ash, the state’s housing and economic development secretary said, “Janelle’s leadership in housing, real estate development, and community engagement makes her uniquely qualified to take the helm of the Department of Housing and Community Development.” Chan previously the chief of real estate for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority and the executive director at the Asian Community Development Corporation. Chan's commitment and service to residents of Massachusetts was highlighted in 2010, when she received a DUSP Public Service Excellence Award.

Chan exemplifies the blending of leadership and technical knowledge - with a focus on public service and enhancing local communities that is characteristic of DUSP alumni and the recipients of the DUSP Public Service Excellence Award.
