The Massachusetts Institute of Technology Department of Urban Studies & Planning (DUSP) applies advanced technologies and methods to envision, research, design and improve cities and regions.  We believe in learning by doing; faculty and students are committed to solving the world's pressing urban and environmental problems and developing new planning approaches and possibilities to empower people and communities.

Since its inception 80 years ago, DUSP has consistently remained one of the top planning schools in the world. We have one of the largest – and most diverse – urban planning program in the United States, which benefits from being an integral part of MIT's community of distinguished innovators and experts. Being part of MIT, we see our mission to advance practice and educate students in areas of scholarship that will best serve the nation and the world in the 21st century and beyond. We are committed to generating, disseminating, and preserving knowledge, and to working with others to bring this knowledge to bear on the world's great challenges. We are dedicated to providing our students with an education that combines rigorous academic study with the excitement of discovery in the practice of place making.
